Accommodations
There are several hotels, bed and breakfasts, and Airbnbs in the area. For your convenience we have reserved a room block at The Hilton Homewood Suites, Boston/Cambridge-Arlington. To book your room, call the hotel at 781-643-7258 and mention the Chylek Spitz wedding block, or use this link. Please make your reservations by February 12, 2025.
The hotel is 1.5 miles from the venue - roughly a 30 min walk or a 10 min car or bus ride - and includes free parking and free breakfast. It is also 0.7 miles from Alewife Station, which provides a direct train to Cambridge, downtown Boston, and other locations that you may want to visit.
Children
We ask that all guests be 17 years of age or older. Thank you for understanding!
Dress code
We request that you wear whatever brings you joy. If helpful, think of it as semi-formal with extra pizzazz and self-expression encouraged - especially if there's something fun in your closet that you don't get the chance to wear often enough. :)
Gift registry
Gifts are purely optional - your presence is the greatest thing that you can give us! But if you find yourself wanting to send us something in the mail, we have a registry here. Thank you!
In the neighborhood
There are several interesting spots close to the venue and hotel:
Robbins Library - A beautiful and historic public library
Alewife Brook Reservation - Forests and wetlands with walking trails
The Book Rack - Used book store
Playtime - Art supplies and other fun items
Additionally, here are some places we enjoy in the rest of the Boston area:
The Arnold Arboretum - if you look closely, mid-March can be a great time to see the very earliest flowers of spring. Nearby is the delightful Papercuts book store.
New City Microcreamery - one of our favorite icecream places, with some adventurous flavors.
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum - art collection with a wild history.
History
Lily and Dan were set up by a mutual friend, who has been glowing with vindication ever since.
Their first date was at the Life Alive Cafe on Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, where Dan ordered a sandwich called “The Bachelor”. Lily privately wondered whether that was meant as a hint. Nevertheless, she was quickly impressed by Dan’s ability to find positivity in the most unexpected places - especially as he described the city of Worcester. Dan was excited almost to the point of skepticism to have found someone he could talk to about art, science, video games, and fiction, and who also happened to be a charming and beautiful woman. She even laughed at his jokes. He remembers gradually learning to just accept his good fortune and stop questioning whether it might all be some kind of hoax.
In the time since then, they have enjoyed listening to banjo music during roadtrips, playing grueling games of 20 Questions, forming divisive opinions about opera, crafting lore about their cats and other characters, and sneaking out to midnight movies. Lily and Daniel were married in a small ceremony in New Mexico on August 4, 2024. They’re now excited to be celebrating just up the road from where they first met - and even more excited to see all of you there.
